The Madikwe is a Private Game Reserve in South Africa in the provinces of North West. The park was established on 01.01.1991 and covers an area of 0.75 km². The Madikwe is a Big Five reserve and offers the possibility of self-drive safaris.

The private game reserve lies north of the small town of Groot-Marico and extends to the border with Botswana. No self-drive vehicles are allowed and all drives are operated from the private lodges spread throughout the reserve. This makes for a very exclusive experience.

Landscape

The main habitat of the Madikwe is the Lowveld.

Madikwe is situated in a transition zone between the Kalahari thornveld and the bushveld. The area is dotted with large rocks and is bordered by the Dwarsberg Mountains to the south. Madikwe Dam is a focal point in the reserve and a great place to watch animals come to drink at sunset.
