About Lesotho

The high Kingdom of Leostho is a 30355 km² landlocked country in southern Africa, which is completely enclosed by South African territory (enclave). The seat of government is in Maseru, the system of government is a unitary, parliamentary, constitutional monarchy. In Lesotho live 2.1 people (as of 2020), most of whom belong to the ethnic group "Basotho".

The official national currency is the "South African rand" (ZAR). The two spoken languages (official languages) are Sesotho and English. The vast majority of the population professes Christianity.

The fauna of Lesotho is characterised by smaller animals and is known for the plateaus of the Drakensberg, with deep valleys, high mountain passes as well as bizarre rock formations. The best-known national park, apart from Ts'ehlanyane National Park, is Sehlabathebe National Park.
