The climate in Karoo National Park is warm. The rainy season takes place from Beginning May to End September The dry season first extended over the months from Beginning October to End April inclusive. The best time to tour is Beginning August End September.

Located in an arid to semi-arid desert climate, the Karoo is prone to large temperature fluctuations and little to no rainfall. The park is subject to periods of drought. Although the average annual minimum and maximum temperatures are 9°C and 24°C respectively, the climate is characterised by extremes and temperatures range from -15°C on the plateau in winter to over 40°C on the plains in summer.
