Lagoon Lodge

We stayed here a few weeks ago with friends who visited South Africa from France. Do not be misled by the photos or responses from management. This establishment is noisy, has no air conditioning in the rooms, and guests are warned about baboons on arrival — something worth knowing before booking. Management is dismissive and unhelpful. There was unnecessary noise made by management themselves outside the rooms early in the morning on the balcony. Instead of fixing recurring issues, management responds defensively to reviews. We phoned ahead specifically to ask about the water situation and were reassured, yet upon arrival the shower pressure and water temperature were poor, with excuses offered rather than solutions. Breakfast is extremely basic and disappointing — tiny portions (a teaspoon of mushrooms) and an omelette so thin it’s almost non-existent. Overall, this stay was not worth the price. I strongly suggest finding cheaper, better-managed accommodation elsewhere.

Along side the N2, can be very noisy with the trucks all night. Management very welcoming. The rooms are a bit dated but you get what you paying for with the very reasonable pricing. I would recommend railings along the steps as it can be precarious especially as it is stated in the sign in, that all is at our own risk! I was a bit nervous to walk to that awesome restaurant Muse. Just wanted to say a big thank you for everything. Thank you for helping me with the last minute booking and for your wonderful hospitality. I really appreciated your kindness and excellent service during breakfast this morning. We felt very at home, will definitely recommend you to friends and family.

Not having pre-booked accommodation, arriving from Cape Town well after 17:00 on a Saturday afternoon, the manager, Frankie, on duty was very hospitable and friendly and was kind enough to show us the accommodation before committing to taking the room. With a breathtaking view, who needed more time to decide?! The room was neat and comfortable and had it's own little balcony...perfect for sunset/sunrise view or just for having a nice quiet moment. The place is perfect for a family holiday.

We stayed here for a research trip recently and Appel the host was truly helpful and kind. The rooms were always clean and breakfasts were amazing. Would go there again just for the coffee (Haha). We always felt at ease and safe and the guidance of where to go to see and understand the area better was a great bonus.

The manager Mr Appels needs a raise for going out of his way to help you and made the stay a pleasure will definitely book with him again and the view is a picture itself thanks again.
