The Mkomazi is a National Park in Tanzania in the provinces of Kilimanjaro, Tanga. The park was established on 01.01.2006 and covers an area of 3.245 km². The Mkomazi is a Big Five reserve and offers the possibility of self-drive safaris.

The park is located in the north-east of Tanzania, a few kilometres from the town of Same and about 300 kilometres from Kilimanjaro. The national park is bordered by the Pare Mountains and the Usamara Mountains to the west and south, and to the northeast it merges directly with Kenya's Tsavo West National Park. The reserve comprises the two game reserves Mkomazi and Umba.

Landscape

The main habitat of the Mkomazi is the Grassland savannah.

The predominant tree species is acacia and there are stands of African baobab on the hills. It is a classic dryland reserve consisting of scattered grey-green shrubs interspersed with savannah woodland and grassland.
