Lion Sands is part of the Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve as well as the Kruger National Park, which together with several other parks forms the Greater Kruger National Park. The reserve is one of the most private and open borders to the world famous Kruger National Park make it a prime game viewing destination with an authentic wilderness atmosphere. All the 'Big Five' and cheetahs can be found here, and sightings are frequent - including the normally rarely seen leopard.
