Arrived greeted at the door by a waiter. Asking to do a tasting, the waiter moves on with a crude joke. Then we sit and wait for 10min, no menus nothing. Its as if the staff couldn't be arsed to provide a service.

Place is not as advertised, the SPA has been closed for more than 6 months and is still advertised on the platform. Rooms are not clean, really dirty and bugs everywhere, and no drinking water, kettle was also dirty. Rooms are also smaller than what is seen from pictures. Shower water was leaking all over the bathroom even when shower door is closed. To get to the estate you have to travel on a dirt road quite an inconvenience if you don't have a 4x4. Staff are also not friendly and are sarcastic with their response. The chef is also unable to make an omelette, can only make scrambled eggs though one is paying for a 4/5 star experience. For a place advertised as a 4/5 star establishment, this is definitely not true and not the treatment we received, the place is more a kind to a 1 star. We had to cancel the rest of our booking and stay at another establishment to celebrate our honeymoon, what a disappointment. To this day which is a month later we have not received any response from Val Du Charron, even after forwarding a complaint via email as was requested by the manager even when I call they keep saying they will send a response on the day I call and still no response and no refund.

Overall, the views should receive the 4stars. Fridge was not working in Room 6. Told them and nothing changed. The waiter told us they were short-staffed that's why he couldn't tend to us. Service in the Grill Room was atrocious. The waiter had more excuses than solutions. Poor MANAGEMENT. The shower floor is wet after a shower. Not even a hand wash or air freshener in the bathroom. To be honest I had better experiences at cheaper B&B in Paarl and surrounding areas.

I came with a group of twelve people to enjoy the views and pizza as well as to take photos of the breath taking views at Val Du Charron. I cannot comment or rate the rooms as I did not stay over. However regarding the service of Val Du Charron Pizza Vista, myself as well as the group I was with were very much disappointed. The pizzas, most of them were absolutely divine! We ordered six in total. My favourite has to be "The Chanelle No.5". That was firstly very unique and secondly the flavours and textures just complimented each other so well! We ordered The Chanelle No.5, The Whole Hog, Some Like It Hot, two of My Big Fat Greek and The Carnivore. We also ordered two platters as starters, that was lovely! My first disappointment regarding the pizzas was The Carnivore. The shaved steak on that particular pizza most likely stood out for a while before it was used, it had an off taste. The balsamic reduction didn't make that taste any better either. The rest of the pizzas were lovely! My second favourite would definitely be The Big Fat Greek. My favourite drink for the day would have to be The Italian Job. Regarding the service delivery... We ordered our first round of drinks, all was good and well. Those drinks took about 45-50min after ordering to arrive at our table. There was an extra Long Island Iced Tea which was brought to our table with which nobody could answer for, which tells me that there is no liaising with the waiters with one another or the bar staff. Secondly, our second round of drinks was mixed up, two drinks were incorrect and the other five drinks took another fifty minutes to get to our table. The two incorrect drinks were replaced after forty five minutes. The problem is that there were three different waiters coming to our table and neither of them communicated with one another which was clear to see. The place itself was not unusually busy so it baffled me to see so much confusion and also such lengthy intervals between order and service. Our pizzas took about an hour twenty minutes to arrive at our table. The staff are genuinely friendly and polite and they made our experience good.

Let’s start at the begging, a lovely welcome from super friendly people! Checked in on Friday and we were placed in a corner room without a view having booked a mountain view room, thankfully this was quickly rectified and we got a lovely room! Dinner at the local Pizza Vista was great except no artichoke was available because they had a very busy day, understandable, however on Saturday we returned only to be told no artichoke which was now disappointing as they had every chance to collect or order in! We originally planned to go to the Grill Room on Saturday however as the Pizza Vista restaurant closed early on Sunday we chose to switch and this evening had high expectations of having a great steak at the Grill Room. Ordered a lovely bottle of Malbec and our fillet steaks only to be told that they had no fries because it was a busy day, joke, and once again an excuse for exceptionally poor management. The supposed 4 star hotel only has two or three rooms booked and yes they do have walk in’s however at no time did we see more than a few tables occupied so the only explanation is VERY poor management. We did try and call the manager to discuss the issue but as mentioned his poor excuse was “we were very busy “ which as I said to the lovely waitress was “a load of bull”. And by the way we heard the other waiter on duty informing the table near us we dont have x& y wine available tonight! My advice would be stay away until they truly think about what it means to be a 4 statr hotel!
