The Boathouse at Oakhurst Olives

Lemoendrif Farm Oakhurst Olives, Tulbagh, Tulbagh 6820

About The Boathouse at Oakhurst Olives

Just 90 minutes from Cape Town and part of the Cape Winelands. This tranquil farming valley is nestled between three mountains, The Groot Winterhoek, The Witzenberg, and the Obiqua.

The Boathouse consists of an open plan living room with a dining table, a fully equipped kitchen & scullery (with dishwasher), a queen-sized air-conditioned bedroom with white percale linen and an en-suite bathroom with shower. For those cold winter days, there is a log fire in the living room and underfloor heating throughout.

The living area and bedroom open out on to the wrap-around patio overlooking the water, with a hot tub. The patio has a barbecue/braai and dining area.

On the lower level, there is a ladder to access the water for swimming (swimming towels are provided) as well as a kayak and life jackets for your use. Please note that all activities are at your own risk. The dam water is used for irrigating our olive orchards and is not always at its fullest capacity, especially near the end of summer.

For your convenience on arrival, there is tea, coffee, (Nespresso Machine and Plunger), milk, rusks, and ice. Firewood for the barbecue and indoor fireplace as well as firelighters.

There is also a complimentary olive tasting voucher for two, valid for your stay (closed on Sundays). Please present your voucher at the Oakhurst Olive Tasting Room to validate it.

Please note that The Boathouse can only accommodate a maximum of 2 guests.

Space is not recommended for children because of its proximity to the water.
You will be staying on a beautiful farm with exclusive use of The Boathouse, situated at Oakhurst Olives, against the slopes of the Groot Winterhoek Mountains.

This was, without a doubt, the best olive tasting experience we've ever had. From the moment we arrived at the farm, driving along a tree-lined road, to stepping into the charming Tasting Building, we knew it was going to be something special. Kamiela's knowledge of olive growing and production was impressive—she answered all of our many questions with ease! The tasting itself was exceptional, and we left with our arms full of olive products. Highly recommended!

The journey itself was beautiful driving past many famous wine estates which I do recommend you visit. Upon arrival at the Olive farm we were greeted by a gorgeous surrounding view of the inner valley, which will have you staring for a good while to take it all in. We had then met our wonderful tasting host at the farm who had treated us to the most amazing experience of Olive tasting, which to my surprise I did not know was a thing, but my word the tasting was just perfect, and learning about an olive pitter will open your mind to the experiences that await your future olive tasting journeys.

A fantastic trip, the quality of the products is outstanding, and the welcome and knowledge of everyone we met was awesome. If you are a foodie, you will LOVE this place, and if you aren’t, well, go anyway! Olive oil (EVOO) is one of the healthiest products on the planet, for you AND mama earth. Beside the oil, the tapenade and marmalade were delicious and the bread for the tastings is baked daily on site. We will be back. Thank you.

We did the Olive tasting and it was the best weekend away activity! So much attention to detail and absolutely delicious! The grounds were stunning and peaceful! Is definitely a must do in Tulbach and will be back very soon!!

What a stunning location and outstanding accommodation. Stayed at The Boathouse for 4 nights and loved every minute. It’s so spacious and comfortable, with a sense of pure tranquillity, that I was reluctant to leave. Especially having made friends with the two adorable dogs, who visited every day and were great company! Take time to visit the Tasting Room on the farm as well, such an interesting explanation of the process and a delight to taste the produce.
