Mjejane River Lodge

Whole hotel definitely needs to be renovated, in my whole life of traveling never have I come across such terrible accommodation for that price, food is average. However location is great. Until it's not renovated would never be going back, if you ask me total waste of money couldn't wait to leave.

Modern chalets. Absolutely stunning. In the heart of the Bush. We had a Gannett next to our porch and other animals. Staff was friendly but "Johan" (at river chalets restaurant area) was very rude. You don't speak to your customers like he spoke to us! He could have approached us in a friendly manner because it was our first time there. We watched the river and hippos and was a bit lost.

It'll take an 8km drive through the Game Reserve to arrive at the location and you'll spot already some wild animals there. The location is situated next to a river where many hippos take their time to relax. Included game drives are perfect from the timing, no need to sit eight hours in a jeep, but there's one three hours tour in the morning and one in the afternoon accompanied by morning coffee or evening drink of your choice. We stayed there a few nights during our honeymoon and got a lovely surprise one evening by the staff. Staff was always really friendly and helpful and made us feel really comfortable. Would definitely visit again.

The location right on the river is unparalleled in Mjejane. We like to visit their restaurant and the riverside bar for sundowners. Staff is friendly and food is good.

The whole resort needs an overhaul. AC not working, phones, lights, water stopped at one point, sliding door was almost falling off its slider, the rooms need painting, buildings in part crumbling, holes all over our mosquito net, lounger broken etc...so very far from luxury. Clean but grimey. Staff are very friendly and helpful but it appears they have little or no support from the management or owners. Food was decent, though very basic. No frills, no finesse .. they could do so much better as the position is A+ DO NOT CHOOSE A STANDARD ROOM...they are shocking. If we hadn't taken up on a special deal I probably would have demanded my money back

We were supossed to go there for a dinner and had to make a down payment. 4 days before flying to Kruger we got a message sent trough from the reserve that ALL travels to mjejane reserve should be avoided. And a lot of roads were closed. Our Airbnb host even missed her flight to CPT because of this and said we might not be able to get to the Airbnb. We couldn't risk this so we had to cancel our trip to Kruger. Mjejane River lodge has not been helpful and does not wanna give us the money back even though we cancelled 4 days before the dinner reservation, because according to them everything is 'fine' over there. Yet everybody is saying that kruger has been an absolute nightmare the last 2 weeks. If they're this unaccomodating about a silly restaurant booking, can't imagine what they're like if you're actually staying there. Would not recommend.

Everything was amazing! The food was outstanding and the service by the staff was flawless! The staff went out of their way for my husbands birthday by making him a cake as well as a gorgeous romantic turn-down service in our room with wine. It was absolutely stunning and so relaxing. I was sad to leave, it was just so peaceful. The game guide was exceptionally knowledgeable and the staff at the lodge so friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be back!!!

The River Lodge is located in the middle of the private game reserve. There are animals freely roaming nearby (no predators, human friendly). The view from the room is stunning - directly overlooking the Crocodile River. Inside it is clean and cozy. The pool is small but serves its purpose - mostly it remains empty, as the majority of guests are on game drives. The game drives are really good here. All animals from Kruger Park can freely enter the reserve territory. We saw the big 5 (without the leopard), as well as giraffes, hippos, crocodiles, zebra, impala, and a large variety of birds. The drives are only 3 hours, every morning and afternoon, but cover a massive territory. I would describe them as kid-friendly - by contrast in Kruger Park you are likely to spend a minimum of 7 hours for a reasonable game drive experience. My wife and I chose to do a morning Kruger Park drive (starting 5 am until 12 pm) and afternoon Mjejane drive (4 pm until 7 pm). I would highly recommend this option for adults. Despite the great time we had, the lodge can improve. Meals are okay but only average quality. The Wi-Fi is poor and there is no TV available - at all in the whole lodge. It was very unfortunate as I was hoping to watch the World Cup games, but it was practically impossible. Nevertheless, the highlight is nature and the animal kingdom. And you will get the best of it there.
