Mankwe Campsites

NG43 Concession North East Wildlife Area, Bordering Moremi/Chobe Nat. Park, Moremi Wildlife Reserve 0000
Botswana Moremi Wildlife Reserve

About Mankwe Campsites

Situated between the Moremi Game Reserve and the Chobe National Park, Mankwe is an ideal gateway to exploring this area. Moremi is undoubtedly one of the most famous Parks in Africa, and a protected area of the Okavango Delta.

Mankwe’s campsites can be accessed in 2x4 vehicles, but the roads in the area are very sandy, so ideally it is better to have a vehicle with 4x4 capabilities. Driving time from Maun is approximately 1hr45 minutes.

My wife and I went here for our 30th Anniversary and it is a must visit if you can. I would plan a month earlier if possible. The heat in October is very high.

We visited in early August in the dry season and the game viewing was exceptional. With exclusive access to a portion of Chobe and year round water we were guaranteed exceptional, exclusive and thoroughly rewarding viewing. Minor criticism - kettle in room instead of thermos please!

Mankwe Bush lodge is a wonderful place with great facilities. It offers spectacular views, the managers and staff are incredibly friendly and go out of their way to help you. The lodge is located right between Moremi South and North gate, perfect to travel to both gates or the Chobe entrance. There are two pool areas, one overlooking the surroundings with a (natural) pool in front of it with regular wildlife visits, a bar and the sunset at the end of the day. It has a cozy lounge area next to it with a lot of privacy. The second area has a bigger pool annexed to the restaurant (with tasty food) and some lounge areas. The camp sites offer a lot of privacy and are also very convenient to stay with a group. They offer a private bathroom (or two annexed), toilets and fireplace (for BBQ), all amenities are very clean and you get the chance to experience wildlife first hand. We felt safe throughout our stay and the staff was super attentive, bringing more wood for the fire in the evening. The lodges are also beautiful and there’s a walking bridge that connects all areas. You will find it on Google maps and if in doubt, ask for coordinates for your GPS. A special thank you to Jolande and Johan for the warm welcome, chats and tips. We’re not sure why there are so little reviews on this place, but go and experience it, you will not regret it!

Amazing setting right in the heart of the bush. The tents are very modern with two camps beds each as well as toilet and shower facilities so you don’t need to go out in the middle of the night. There’s a communal kitchen/living tent as well as communal showers/toilets as well, you heat the water on the fire for the full experience. There’s loads of wildlife right outside your tent as well. In the week I was there we saw loads of Elephants come through the camp as well as Dwarf Mongooses and Spotted Hyenas. It’s a great experience

Very nice and quiet campsite. The campsites are a bit further away from the reception and lodge, but are very private and surrounded by nature. The pool and the bar can still be used. Very friendly and helpful staff. We recommend!
