About Kosi Bay Lodge

Sip sundowners in Nhlange Pub with an amazing view and enjoy cuisine with a distinctive local flavour in the cosy atmosphere of the Umdoni (water berry tree) restaurant & bar overlooking the pool and the sun deck. Two, four and six-bedded rustic lodges are comfortably appointed. Structures consist of thatched roofs, treated poles, wooden floors on stilts and reed walls that are typically Tonga/Zulu style. The accommodation is rustic more than plush but the setting and range of activities make a stay well worthwhile

We weren't too happy with our experience. as we called ahead to find a place to sleep for the night and was told we could have a place for R500 for the night which we thought was good value, seen that it was just to sleep for one night. When we handing in the key. Only to have said to our faces that we we were cheapskate. Totally gobsmacked about that comment. Who says things like that to guest's? No matter what they are paying. We were taken to one chalet which was cleaned and ready but then told that we been taken to another chalet. As that one was not cleaned yet. We arrived in the afternoon. The shower was blocked and as it was filling up there was black stuff coming up out the drain into the shower. However the staff in the evening at dinner were super friendly and their hospitality was awesome! Thank you. We ordered the seafood platter for two. Unfortunately I got violently ill. I spent from midnight til 4 a.m. vomiting and the runs, thank goodness I travel with extra toilet paper as there was only half a toilet roll in the bathroom. You were recommended to us by a good Friend. They must of had a good experience. But we certainly did not. The chalet was not clean and prepared for us like the first one we were taken to.

We have been traveling all night from Johannesburg to the Kosi Bay border. Tired and very hungry, we wanted to grab some breakfast before crossing the border. We saw and followed the Kosi Bay Lodge boards stating that they have a restaurant. On arrival at the gate after driving for 10 minutes on a sand road, we were told at the gate that they do not serve day visitors. I was very disappointed. The least they can do is put NO DAY VISITORS on their boards and save me a 20 minute detour to the border.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 4-night stay in the first week of January 2023. Was a wonderful way to start the new year. The staff were always friendly and attentive and made you feel both welcome and respected as a guest. The food at the restaurant was certainly appetizing and the cocktails and drinks were just what was needed to set the holiday tone. The front desk staff assisted in coordinating our activities outside of the lodge and this made the whole experience very memorable. We would certainly want to book a holiday stay there again

Only went to visit the restaurant. Great food and a decent drink selection. The grilled calamari was amazing with a very tasty sauce, the calamari burger was even better. The venue itself looks very neat and well maintained, with friendly staff. Edit: went a few days later to enjoy the boat cruise through the three lakes. Awesome experience with a great tour-guide (Micheal). We got to see some hippos and lots and lots of birds with some great commentary information from Micheal in between.

What a great few days spent at Kosi Bay Lodge. Beautiful pools, such friendly people and amazing food! We ate at the in-house restaurant throughout our stay, and weren't disappointed once! Highly recommend the seafood platter and the prawn curry - absolutely delicious! Thank you for a lovely stay and we can't wait to be back!

Very rustic , and pleasant. Could do with a little maintenance touch up. Also would like to see microwave oven in rooms.
