If you want peace and quiet. Gwahumbe Game and Spa is the best place to visit. The staff is friendly, their rooms are clean, the game drive was super exciting, and the food is delicious. We enjoyed our time.

So this is a bit of a tough one for me I must say. A bit of a mixed bag so to speak... Arriving the way you are directed when driving in seems to take you to the back entrance of the place, so look out for the "Reception" sign somewhat hidden against a wall when you drive in so that you don't end up at the backside of the place. The rooms are basic and without a TV, so no point lingering there other than pure rest. The service is generally very good and most staff are very affable. A big (& very pleasant) surprise was the private dinner my wife and I had booked. I've never enjoyed an evening quite like it so if you're a couple (no spoiler alert), book the couples spa weekend which includes the private dinner. That, along with the spa treatment (which was enjoyable albeit mediocre) is a lovely combination. And that alone would make this place worth visiting. The game drive was fun if you're with a small, fun group. If you're not in a group then maybe not so much. The outside areas were reasonably well kept although the pool was not clean enough to swim in (watch out for frogs), and the boma/firepit area was under construction and occupied by a snake at the time of my visit (March). The food options are surprisingly limited and it's not an upmarket dining experience - our 1 steak was tasty and yet the other was over cooked - so hold your expectations in check. I can highly recommend the burger however. Definitely a highlight of the menu items. In terms of value for money, we're pretty good at finding nice value for money places. This wasn't it in my opinion. Although it was a pleasant weekend, I'm not sure I'd pay R10k to go there again.

Room was spacious but didn’t like that the brown velvet head board had hair stains , needs proper vacuum cleaning 😑😑 I was not impressed with the Serengeti no 2 room we stayed In , it has not been renovated like the self catering they post on socials . The worse is when they have event and guests from event allowed to walk up and down at the main restaurant and chill in the same lounge guests are relaxing in with their food that they catered for at the event , they dish up at the event venue and come up with plates to the restaurant 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️ . If you move for few seconds from the couch , you come back your seat is taken 🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️ 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻People that came for an event must stay at the event area .There is a lot of walk ins or day visitors roaming around the common area / restaurant lounge wich makes it not pleasant at all . There is no privacy for guests staying in . I was a bit nosey for me compared to other 5* Game reserves I’ve been to , maybe I had high expectations . Too many day groups bookings 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻 . Staff needs more training to be attentive to guests staying in . Establishment needs to decide if they focussing on day visits and Events or Experience for guests staying with them .Overall breakfast , dinner and Spa was great .

We celebrated our 30th Wedding Anniversary here. Rooms are misleading from the website. Looks nothing like the one displayed especially for Serengeti. The rooms needs a proper deep clean. The service was good but inattentive at times. The food was excellent all day. My highlight was the lunch with couscous and my breakfast. The rump for supper had lots of silver skin and sinew that wasn't trimmed off that made it difficult to eat. Taste however was good. The location, stunning. The game drive, amazing, except when booking they don't mention that many of the areas were washed away in the recent floods and still not repaired and this cuts down drives to the caves etc. We literally saw one giraffe, A small herd of wildebeest and one nyala, and about 7 impala. That was it... nothing else... seriously... this was a small game farm, where are your wildlife that you brag about? If we were honestly told these things, I would never have booked here...

It's absolutely stunning since the rebuild after the fire, the food was very good too and although not an extensive menu the items available were a balanced selection and prepared very well, the home made vanilla ice cream was 5 stars 🌟 but I would not recommend the chocolate mousse as it tasted like it came from a packet, honestly next time I would have double of the ice cream 🍦, my main meal was absolutely delicious and well presented. I absolutely loved the new bathrooms off the restaurant 😍

We booked a conference with them for our company. The main lodge is stunning, spacious and clean. The staff were wonderful, friendly and efficient. Nothing was too much to ask! The food was good and well priced. Great conference facilities, with nature right outside the door with incredible views of the valley. I took a small vehicle and the roads where absolutely fine for my small car. Was delighted to have 2 welcoming Giraffe at the main gate :) The only thing I can fault is the wifi connectivity hasn't been great, they need a bigger upload/download package to enable colleagues dialing in online for sessions.

I booked the mini spa package via the gwahumbe whatsapp number, and it was an effortless experience. The package Includes a 45min full body massage, a 2 hour scenic game drive through the valley and lunch with desert. We spend half the day at the reserve and it was absolutely beautiful. The team is wonderful and very friendly.

Amazing getaway! We went camping at the Hippo campsites. Each campsite has its own bathroom and washing up facilities which were both nice and clean. It is right next to the river and so peaceful! There are nice walks there and the main lodge has been redone and looks amazing! I would highly recommend it!
