Lovely lodge next to N2 conviniant for long distance drivers to relax and refresh

Dans Country Lodge is no longer what it used to be the standard has dropped. I booked a family room for 3 nights 1/01/24 to 4/01/24. The first night water wasn’t hot and I reported it we were moved the next day after bathing with cold water. On the last day there was loadshedding in the morning and the generator didn’t kick in I went to the reception to report that water wasn’t coming out around 5:30am the lady said they will check. I went again at 6:00am she said they were checking I went at 6:30 and she told me their generator ran out of diesel they are busy with it. 7:00 electricity came back and I was able to bath and I was late for my meeting all this time they were buying time for electricity to come back. The chair when you sit it goes down the toilet seats moves and shower head. The standard has really dropped from what Dans place used to be.

Great service which goes above and beyond most.

The room was not clean (room 14 double), the pillow stank of old sweat, it had not been washed, the shower was useless, hard to get an even spray, needs urgent maintenance, the fridge coffee area was full of cockroaches. The saving grace was the dining facility, it was clean, the chef was very friendly and helpful, the toaster was broken but he made a plan, the beef sausage was awful, and the selection of food not really worth the extra that I paid for my kids, a Steers breakfast would have been much better, the garden was lovely

Rooms need a colorwash and repairs. Not bad but could do better.

I've taken photos at many weddings at Dans Country Lodge and this time around I was very disappointed in the venue and the upkeep of the grounds. They are not well maintained anymore, there use to be beautiful scenic places to take photos and the gardens were beautiful now they have limited us to a few spots around the main lodge area. The rooms have looked the exact same for the past couple of years, no new improvements. I feel this place grew and grew and became more and more beautiful but at some point over the past 2 to 3 years it just stopped. I wish the owners could go back to the drawing board and start improving the place again. It use to be one of my favourite wedding venues but my visit last week left me very sad at its state. In all its still a beautiful place but there is alot of potential to be even better.
