Absolutely beautiful and charming hotel. The location is super convenient. The self catering apartments are spacious and well maintained. The views from the rooms and balcony are an absolute treat to wake up to.

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights and loved it. Nice building, great rooms with nice beds (sleeping with the windows open and hearing the ocean is such a nice experience for someone who doesn’t live by the coast) and the breakfast is very extensive and delicious. Beach towels are available for dips in the nearby tidal pools. As mentioned by other reviewers, what really stands out here is the service. You can tell there’s a team that runs this place instead of ‘just staff’. Will definitely stay here again when we go to Kalk Bay in the future!

A Hidden Gem in Kalk Bay! Chartfield Guesthouse is an absolute treasure. It’s easy to reach from Cape Town and the views of the ocean are simply stunning. The house itself is full of charm, with stylish décor and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Every detail is thoughtfully designed, making it a place where you instantly feel at home. The breakfast is fantastic fresh, varied and absolutely delicious. What truly sets this place apart is the people. The team is incredibly friendly, attentive and goes above and beyond to make sure every guest feels comfortable. The service is outstanding! Honestly, for what you get here, the price is definitely too low. If you’re looking for a special place with character, heart, and top-notch hospitality, this is it. We’ll definitely be back! For context, I am a sports massage therapist who offered my services to a hiking group at Chartfield. The staff was amazing, truely. She showed each client where to find me. Her help felt genuine and the space is beautiful. Stunning (clean) swimming pool and neat spaces. Happy staff, to me is a good sign. A great romantic place to relax and use as a base to explore Kalk bay. Great service, great breakfast, no need to drive anywhere. Complimentary cafe latte in bed every morning is the kind of touch that makes this place special.

I stayed at the neighboring apartment owned by Florian. My experience was truly as advertised on the Chartfield Guesthouse's website: a home away from home. Florian was patient and efficient in answering all my questions from my discovery of his place to my check-out day. All employees were prompt, kind, and offered great service throughout my stay. The apartment was beautiful and immaculately clean, and equipped with everything I needed from fresh linens to cooking ware and some starter products in the pantry. Loadshedding was never an issue due to an alternative energy source and "tap" water was from a natural spring. Further, The Chartfield and Majestic Apartments couldn't be in a better location: quiet, centrally located, within a block from a small grocery store, many cafés, restaurants, and shops in the charming and safe neighborhood of Kalk Bay.
