Mountain View Eco Lodge Montagu

What a beautiful place to stay in Montagu. We were welcomed by the kind and warm host with her fur babies and well-maintained gardens :) The accommodation was very clean, neat, and good enough for us and the view during day and night was absolutely stunning on the deck. We enjoyed swimming in the pool and the breakfast in the cozy restaurant. I highly recommend this lodge. You won’t regret, I promise you. Thank you so much for making our Easter holiday fun and relaxing at your place :)

We are 3 Belgians who were hiking in the beautiful surroundings of Montagu on a lovely Sunday ☀️. Suddenly, we saw a Belgian flag ??, home at last! This Belgian flag appears to represent an ‘eco’ guesthouse, so we called at the door with the following message: “we are Belgians in desperate need of some Belgian food.” Keen to enjoy some renowned Belgian hospitality. The owner replied “that is not my problem, just take the first plane back home.” At first, we believed this was a joke but an awkward silence remained. He added “we are only open to guests.” We hope the guests are treated with more kindness and respect.

Undoubtedly Mountain View Lodge does not only have the most picturesque views overlooking Montagu & the awe-inspiring mountainous regions leading to Barrydale, but the pool, bar & elevated deck area have you feeling like you are in a far away world. While a few steps one way will have you in the center of the town with the towns church steeple towering over you on one side & some rather uniquely original venues to choose from to either have a cold one with some good ol local folk, or be a true wonderer & go discover Lovers Walk in an adventure in natures most natural feats I have witnesses to date. The intrigue only ends when you want it to end... Might as well discover it all for yourself why don't you!

Very friendly and entertaining hosts. Rooms are big and very nice. There is also a little pool and roof top where you have nice view of the mountain. Breakfast is very good. So definitely a recommendation if you need a stay for one or two nights.

The rooms was standard and comfortable. The view on the pool deck was spectacular!!The best part was the atmosphere was so peaceful. Thanks to Allen and Muad, what a beautiful lady with a beautiful soul that made our stay comfortable and made us feel welcomed.

Very enjoyable and pleasant stay. The bed is very comfortable, bathroom is convenient. All you need for a long weekend. The room and actually the whole property is very well maintained and spotless clean. Although otherwise published, we were able to enjoy some Belgian Beers in the bar, with thanks to the helpful hosts. The Cousy open fire in the evening was a very nice bonus. Furthermore breakfast was excellent and we had a fantastic weekend!

Pathetic service. No bed and breakfast offered even though paid for. Bathrooms have no doors. Beds are horrible. Old worn out linen and pillows used. toilets don't even have air fresher. Booked and payed for 10 days, but forced clients out by 4 days. Does not deserve to be open for customers, with the way they treat people. Scamming people. The place is not clean, spider infested. Major fire hazard. Weak support on decking. The fact the someone from this establishment is even willing to go to the embarrassing lengths of going after a client, and purposely try and spam them with bad reviews/rating. Would not be surprised if at least 50% of the reviews on here are made up and fake accounts. I would recommend instead of trying to be funny in a reply that everyone on this platform will see. You firstly clean up your spider infested guest house. And instead of blaming an elderly lady, realize that the problem may lie on your side. But do carry on as you wish, you will lose a lot more customers. As she was not the only person that's had a complaint.

I know exactly where to go when I go to montagu , Alain was a great host even though we only chatted for 20min, he has a wealth of knowledge and gave me a tour. The rooms are spacious. And I live the deck and HEATED pool area. The lodge has personality and beautiful artwork / sculptures. The views are amazing . the only downside was the scary insects I came across but that's nature. Cant wait to go here again.
