Motswiri Private Safari Lodge

Our family just spent the most amazing week at the Motswiri Private Safari Lodge! The Motswiri team quickly showed us that going on Safari can be so much more than just the game drives! They provided an experience from morning to night that far exceeded our expectations and embraced us as part of their Motswiri family. The staff were amazing! They provided blankets and hot water bottles for each of the chilly morning game drives, met us with welcoming smiles, and cold or hot towels when we returned. They learned our names, our food/drink preferences, addressed my dairy allergy with seamless ease, served amazing meals, and had toasty fires lit in each of our 4 cabins every night after dinner. They also helped us celebrate a birthday with a surprise champagne celebration during our morning drive and a beautiful cake after dinner with the staff singing African songs - it still gives me chills! Let’s not forget the game drives! Truly stunning! We saw an abundance of beautiful animals including the Big 5 and more! Bill catered our drives to match our interests and wasn’t afraid to go offroad to provide that perfect photo op! He provided so much information throughout the various drives and got us close to the amazing animals - all while keeping us safe! The morning coffee/tea and afternoon beverage stops were perfectly timed and gave us an opportunity to chat more with Bill and learn so much! Everything I’ve described above is a true reflection of Bill and Amy’s leadership. They have great knowledge, culinary backgrounds, and a passion for providing an incredible experience for their guests and making everyone feel welcome! They have used their experience and influence to make positive changes to the Motswiri operation (i.e eliminating plastic bottles throughout). Absolutely incredible!! This is the place to stay for an unbelievable African safari! We stayed for 4 nights and every game drive was simply magical. We saw the big 5 all in one afternoon and had incredibly close encounters with lions, elephants, zebras, giraffes, and even a cheetah! The watering hole at the lodge also brought in animals everyday- we got to see elephants, zebras, water buffalos, and even a lion right from our rooms! Apart from the spectacular wildlife, the lodge was everything we dreamed of! Bill and Amy do a fantastic job running this place- the food is top notch (and the staff was all very attentive and accommodating to our food restrictions!), the rooms are beautiful with amazing views, and the staff are all so friendly and welcoming. Every little detail is thought of, from turn down service so your fireplace is on before bed, to hot / cold towels when you return back from your game drive. I can’t recommend this place enough and am looking forward to coming back. Much thanks to everyone at Motswiri for making this a once in a lifetime vacation!

A special mention must go to our ranger, who was not only incredibly knowledgeable about the wildlife and the ecosystem but also passionate and engaging. Each game drive was an unforgettable adventure, and thanks to his expertise and keen eye, we were able to witness breathtaking animal encounters we’ll never forget. We stayed here for a 3 night family holiday. The whole experience was amazing, the staff were super friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived to our departure - they came out and waved us off as we left! The rooms were decent, though slightly dated; our lodge sliding doors didn't close perfectly though not enough to cause concern about insects getting in. The site felt very safe and the food was very good. The twice daily game drives were fantastic; our guide, Bill, was very informative and had an encyclopedic knowledge of the wildlife and plants that we saw, further complemented with anecdotes about his experiences.

Stayed here in May 2024 for 4 nights with a friend. We were the only people in the lodge so we had it all to ourselves. Elephants arrive continuously at the watering hole as do other animals. Pity we couldn’t have a boma braai but understandably it is a big job for only 2 guests. Would happily return with more friends.

Beautiful lodge. Rooms are spacious with private terrace. The fireplace is nice when it's cold or raining. Adding an indoor shower would make it perfect. The view from the deck is limited in the wet season, but the occasional antelope will still walk by 😉

I can't recommend Motswiri enough, we were treated like VIPs by every member of staff from the moment we landed in Madikwe until we left. Special thank you to Tammy who assisted us with our booking and made the admin so easy and assisted with flights too. We can't wait to go back

We had an amazing stay at Motswari lodge. The staff and service are excellent, and the food is top class, a big thank you to John, Imelda & team! Our lodge room was stunning, and the veranda room overlooking a watering hole was the perfect place to relax between drives, we even saw giraffe & elephant while sitting out with a glass of wine! The safari game drives were an incredible experience, made all the better by our ranger Josh & tracker Difference. And you have the option to stay a night in the Giraffe's Nest, definitely do!! We highly recommend Motswari & will be back!
