Umdlalo Lodge

Booking via Booking.com was VERY deceptive. A Deluxe room that we ended up in was plain standard with one small window looking straight at a precast wall, yet my booking was for a room with a terrace. When the the on duty manager was asked if this was classified "deluxe" she replied yes, yet i have stayed in establishments across the country where there are B&Bs cheaper,better and much more value for money paid than this so called 4 star boutique hotel! - I will NEVER stay here again - i had to upgrade to the honeymoon suite as i was so embarrassed with what i had got for my girl friend and i for this week over Christmas to be with her family. - the matter of an upgrade is easy when you just swipe your card! Take my money and run. - the water pressure is a joke, don't hope for a decent shower to wash down with, it won't happen. - the wifi was intermittent, as if the router was switched off at night, very painful! - a mini bar is NOT in the room as advertised, it is in the cafe with a wonderful character by the name of Sam. Sam is a gem in this place! - you will get an empty, working fridge but whatever you do don't have alcohol in your room or you will have the manager knocking on your door! So why is the fridge there??? There are no notices ANYWHERE to this effect, as far as i am concerned you are licensed on your premises, right? - given what i just said about alcohol in your room, not allowed.....guests a few rooms up from us were smoking some of the green tree variety two nights in a row.......WEED! However, smoking in the room is not permitted and is sign posted as such. Some double standards or selective application here!!!! Really unacceptable and i feel ripped off! I will be interested in the owners' response to my comments.

Beautiful lodge, very friendly service, delicious food . It's really a great place to unwind with your loved ones.

Nice place, little seaview with a beautiful patio and cafe. We didn't spend the night. We eat the BEST burger ever!! And the staff was great! We are coming back!

What a beautiful well run hotel. I stayed due to a family funeral but what a comforting lovely stay we had. Rooms were luxurious and spacious, food delicious We saw some beautiful weddings at the hotel during our stay. What a lovely place to have a wedding, and 5 mins from Umtentweni beach for photo's . Lovely Highly recommend
