Petfriendly, Umdloti Beachfront Escape

Don't book with this place. In line with the review my husband Pranesh posted, this booking was the biggest waste of money. There's still no news of a deposit refund. The stay must have been the worst experience I have had so far. There was a power outage with no easy access to the apartment. Climbing the almost 200 stairs up and down to offload and reload pur vehicle was horrible especially in the summer heat. Most of our food went bad. There was nothing to do with put electricity. I fell on the stairs because there was emergency light. Don't make the same mistake we did . In light of the response received from the service provider, I had not stayed at this place previously. The place is lovely and clean for sure, with amazing views. However, my husband has still not recieved any communication around the refundable deposit, fines were not communicated and he cannot reach the agent regarding this. The lack of comminication is what makes us most frustrated, we do understand the power outage was not in the agents hands but at least communicate the status of the refundable deposit. With all the inconvenience around the stay the least the agent could do is refund the breakage deposit considering nothing was damaged. This brings the spend for one night in darkness and spoiled food, where we apparently were not allowed to even go outside for fresh air up to a whopping R7000. Not to mention the place was still being cleaned at 3pm on check-in. Other reviews of ocean view holiday escapes are similar where people have lost their deposit and couldn't get any communication thereof. Our lawyers will be handling this further.

The 180 steps to walk up and down the flat when there's no electricity. A place that size should have invested in loadshedding equipment. No emergency/ backup lights in the complex. Getting to and from the unit is a nightmare. Elevator when working takes forever to get to the top and bottom. The unit was still getting cleaned after 3 pm when I arrived. 1 week and no refundable deposit was paid back to me. Did not have electricity for the whole duration we stayed. We got a noise complaint for talking on the balcony, without electricity they expect us to stay locked up in the flat. It was absolutely ridiculous. 1 week and still haven't heard back from the agent or owner, but was quick to receive a call from the owner to accuse me of having a party and drinking, when I hosted a family dinner which all the food went off due to no electricity. Read the terms and conditions before booking. We handed the keys back and was told we didn't give the keys back. R2000 for lost keys in the terms and conditions? Your car keys with coding are cheaper than what they charge for 2 small keys, which could get easily lost in the dark, walking up and down those stairs. I wouldn't recommend this place until they have proper measures in place for loadshedding or electricity cuts. R4000 plus R3000 refundable deposit is not worth it for this place.

The experience with this company has been awful and I will not recommend anyone to use their services. I had arrange a late check in at one of their units, only to get there and i had no access as they gave me the wrong remote. I was stranded and had to travel to another town to get accommodation for the night. The fault is clearly due to negligence on their side, and they refuse to give me a refund. I was able to book in the next day. I was 1 person staying there for 2 nights and they charged me and additional R850 for cleaning fees. DO NOT use this company.

Terrible service. I paid money into their account by mistake. 3 weeks later , no refund, no email response. Alandra Bartis whatsapp reply.. one moment please. Absolutely shocking

Oceans view holiday escapes This deserves no star at all!!!! Just know that you will not get your R3000 deposit fee back. Alandra Bartis will create some lame excuse and say you broke things that you did not even touch. Worst experience ever. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!! Stay far away from this place. I am not even gonna mention the staircases!! The elevator NEVER works!!!!!!

Would have been better not to receive the deposit (R3000) for the truth. These people gave us a whole list of things that we supposedly broke including a dishwasher?! Like who uses a dishwasher when they on vacation?, make me understand when all our dirty dishes were all in the sink when we checked out. I have no idea if the scamming came with the host or the person who went to review the place after our stay. There is a staircase to heaven that you'll take with all your luggage on your back because the elevator doesn't work. That time it was raining. Thee worst experience ever! The owner still keeps some of their things in the house with labels that those cabins should not be touched hence limited space for keeping our own things; Absurd if you ask me.

I would not recommend this place to anyone, this place is a scam!!! They will make sure that you do not get your deposit fee back, claiming to have broken stuff that you never used. Their elevator does not work, having one to climb up a thousand staircases with heavy luggages. Also, do not be fooled by the pictures, their furniture is old.

I had the most wonderful stay at "Escape to our Happy Place" in Umdloti. The most beautiful views from the unit, comfy beds and a well furnished and equipped unit made my stay so pleasant that I extended for an extra night. The level of service, information and customer care provided by Alandra was exceptional as well as the owners being very kind and accommodating. Highly recommended for a very happy escape to the north coast of Durban!
