I recently stayed at the Olive Cottage at Olive Stone Farm, and I can confidently say this place is a hidden gem. The cottage is thoughtfully designed with rustic charm and modern touches, offering a cozy, inviting atmosphere that immediately feels like home. One of the highlights was the incredible natural splash pool—a perfect spot to unwind while soaking up the stunning surroundings. And for cooler evenings, the warm hot tub was just what I needed to relax and take in the beautiful night sky. The combination of these unique amenities created an unforgettable experience, making my stay feel both rejuvenating and luxurious. The farm setting is serene and authentic, with olive groves and gorgeous landscapes all around, allowing me to disconnect and truly enjoy nature. This peaceful retreat is ideal for anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle while still enjoying comfortable, well-thought-out accommodations. I can’t wait to return!

I first fell in love with Olive Stone Farm four years ago, and my recent stay only deepened that connection. Wanda and Johan, the new owners, have created something truly magical here. Their thoughtful touches and attention to detail are visible in every corner. My stay was filled with pure bliss: three nights of restful sleep, lazy afternoons lost in a good book, sipping coffee on the stoep as the morning sun warmed the olive trees, cozy evenings by the fireplace, a relaxing soak in the hot tub, and dining under a charming chandelier – it was magical from start to finish. I stayed in the Farm Cottage, where Wanda and Johan greeted me with such warmth. They provided a map of the town with their recommendations for restaurants and wineries, and their communication leading up to my stay was flawless. The cottage was simply stunning and so quaint, decorated with incredible attention to detail. The kitchen was stocked with everything I needed, from fresh farm eggs to rusks, olive oil, balsamic, teas, coffee, milk, and even a complimentary bottle of wine . You can purchase their The local treats – their homemade mustard, which reminded me of my grandmother’s, was incredible. Wanda’s freshly baked rusks were perfect for morning coffee, their olives were outstanding, and I can’t recommend their homemade chimichurri enough. There’s also a charming vegetable garden where guests are welcome to pick seasonal vegetables and herbs – such a lovely touch! The bed was a dream, with luxurious linens from the T-shirt Bed Co. The entire cottage felt like my own private haven. On warmer days, there’s even a plunge pool and a Kol Kol hot tub to enjoy. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of my stay and wholeheartedly recommend Olive Stone Farm Cottages for a romantic weekend getaway. I’ll definitely be back. Old review from 4 years ago: Olive Stone Farm is beautifully located in the heart of the town of Montagu in the Western Cape. And even though you are on a farm, it doesn’t feel like you’re in the town. It is owned by Elaine and Andrew, who are thee most incredible and hands-on hosts. There are only 3 cottages on the property, and the cottages are secluded enough that you don’t ever see the other guests. The accommodation is incredible and includes a plunge pool among its perks. Elaine & Andrew go over and above the hospitality norm, to please and provide a great experience for their guests, and it’s a comfort as a guest. Olive Stone Farm is truly a really incredible place to stay, with a spectacular view of the Montagu mountain ranges beyond the property’s beautiful olive trees. I would definitely return, and give this place 5-stars!

Instead of reading this just to go the Olive Stone Farm and Cottages and book your stay, to describe the attention to detail in every aspect of the cottage is impossible, but once you have stayed there you will know what I am referring to. A perfect spot for couples, the romance is enhanced with complete privacy, while ordering a ready-made picnic dinner basket or breakfast basket that gets delivered to your front door at your chosen time is a must. Situated in Montagu, the cottages are a perfect spot to explore the broader area along Route 62. The again, given the luxury of the cottage you may never wish to leave.

When we were planning a weekend escape, we were torn between Olive Stone and another place that was slightly more within our budget. Fortunately, the other place never responded, and that turned out to be a blessing. Our experience at Olive Stone exceeded all our expectations! Wanda and Johan, what you've created here is truly magical. Your attention to detail and thoughtfulness are evident everywhere we looked. There's so much to see and enjoy! We had everything we needed and more: three nights of comfortable sleep, lazy afternoons spent reading, sipping coffee on the stoep while watching the morning sun rise over the olive trees, warming our feet by the fireplace, unwinding in the hot tub, and dining under chandelier. We stayed at the Farm Cottage at Olive Stone Farm this weekend. Wanda and Johan gave us a very warm welcome and are wonderful hosts. Wanda gave us a map of the town with a whole list of recommend restaurants and wineries. The communication leading up to our stay was excellent. The stunning quaint cottage is decorated beautifully. The attention to detail is phenomenal. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need during your stay and was stocked with fresh eggs from the farm, rusks, olive oil from the farm, balsamic vinegar, teas, coffee, milk, sugar, salt, pepper, chilli and a complimentary bottle of wine of our choice. The bed was very comfortable with lovely linen from the T-shirt Bed Co. Super soft and luxurious. The cottage is completely private, like an enchanted haven. In warm weather you can relax in the plunge pool or you can soak in the Kol Kol hot tub. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend Olive Stone Farm Cottages for a romantic weekend away.

An absolutely gorgeous homely cottage, on an olive farm (offering peace and tranquility), but in walking distance from town. All the amenities and more, from a splash pool, to a kolkol hottub, and an outside shower, indoor fireplace and braai. This property needs to be experienced but make sure you stay for a couple of days

A fantastic 3 night stay! A perfect place to recharge in beautiful surroundings, wonderful warm hosts, so welcoming but yet still allowing us privacy to relax and spend quality time together. Very thoughtful and tasteful decor with all sorts of added luxury touches which makes your stay extra comfortable. Loved the pool, the hot tub was awesome to enjoy under the stars, we slept so well and enjoyed a delicious braai basket too. Would highly recommend at least 3 nights, if you can find availability!
